Our Work: Building Futures Together
Every project we undertake starts with a single goal: to create environments where neurodivergent individuals and their communities can thrive. Through relationship-building, community engagement, and collaboration using creativity and behavioral science, we turn challenges into opportunities and ideas into tangible results.

From local outreach events to global partnerships, our work reflects the heart of what we do, turning science into action and compassion into community.

Creating Allies for Autism Awareness
On Saturday, April 26, 2025, Behavioral Teaching Solutions (BTS) and its statewide initiative, Spectrum Speaks Florida, hosted Creating Allies for Autism Awareness at Selby Library in downtown Sarasota from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. This free public event will unite neurodivergent voices, educators, artists, and community leaders to inspire meaningful action toward inclusive employment and support systems.
Despite increasing awareness, studies show that up to 85% of autistic adults are unemployed or underemployed. Meanwhile, 66% report suicidal ideation, with autistic individuals facing a seven-fold higher risk of suicide than the general population. These figures highlight urgent systemic barriers, not a lack of ability, but a lack of opportunity.
"These statistics aren’t just numbers; they represent people with untapped potential.”
Our goal is to close that gap by helping communities move from awareness to action, creating more opportunities for neurodivergent adults.

BTS Cook & Connect
BTS Cook & Connect is our life-skills kitchen project, where cooking becomes a practical and joyful way to build independence, confidence, and community. In a sensory-friendly, neurodiversity-affirming space, women, families, neurodivergent adults, and food lovers come together to explore simple recipes, plan and shop for ingredients, and practice real-world skills like safety, budgeting, and clean-up.
Guided by behavioral science and compassion, Cook & Connect turns everyday kitchen routines into opportunities for learning, self-advocacy, and connection. From small group labs to our emerging Cookbook Club, participants help shape a growing library of healthy, accessible recipes that honor different sensory and cultural preferences. This project is one more way Behavioral Teaching Solutions and Spectrum Speaks are turning science into action and inclusion into a lived, shared experience.

Assent & Trust-Building Initiatives
A regular Spectrum Speaks project that turns trauma science and constructional, assent-based behavior analysis into everyday practices in homes, schools, and communities. We partner with families, practitioners, and community organizations to design trauma-informed environments where neurodivergent people have real choice, voice, and power. Using relationship-building, behavioral science, and the constructional approach, we focus on trust, safety, and genuine assent, and not mere compliance.
